The young Egyptian vulture, born at CERM Rapaci Minacciati Center on May 18, 2015, is back in Italy after spending four years in Africa, mostly in Niger, a country he chose as a wintering area.
It was, as always, the couple of LIFE Egyptian Vulture guards composed by Elena and Salvatore to kick off the 2019 breeding season at the CERM Raptors Prevention Center, with the first egg laid on April 9th.
On 10 and 11 April 2019 the Anti-Poison Dog Unit (UCA) created as part of the LIFE Egyptian vulture project was presented to the technicians and members of the Body of Environmental Agents of the governments of the islands of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura.
One year after the launch of the LIFE Egyptian vulture project, the data collected with the population monitoring in 2018 by the Estación Biológica de Doñana-CSIC team confirm that the population of "guirre" of the Canary Islands continues to grow, keeping the positive trend observed in recent years.
