At the beginning of 2023, an information and awareness-raising campaign involving tourist facilities in the areas where the actions of the LIFE Egyptian vulture project are being developed was completed.
Experienced operators visited the facility managers and provided them with information on the Egyptian vulture and the LIFE Egyptian vulture project. In addition, they distributed various information materials that will also be available to customers and visitors.
The aim of the activity was to enhance the presence of this species and to encourage the sharing of actions in place to promote its conservation.
In the project areas located in Basilicata, Calabria and Sicily, the activity was organised and carried out by Federparchi with the support of AIGAE Associazione Italiana Guide Ambientali Escursionistiche (Italian Association of Environmental and Walking Guides) and reached 110 actual accommodation facilities (agritourism, B&Bs, hotels, etc.), visitor centres and information points. In Apulia, the activity, coordinated by the Apulia region, was carried out by operators of the LIPU Lega Italiana Protezione Uccelli (Italian League for Bird Protection) who involved 26 facilities located in the SPA/ZSC Area delle Gravine (TA).
